CFCU uses Risk Based Lending, a program that is currently used at most financial institutions and offers rewards to you, our members, for your good credit history. Every credit report has a score that reflects your payment history and how you have managed your finances. Just like in school, the higher the score the better the grade.
Risk Based Lending uses that score to determine the probability of payments being made on time and determines the interest rate for your loan. If you have made your payments on time and have limited your credit card debt then your score will be high, which means you will get our best interest rate! If you’ve had problems with your payments in the past then your risk score will be lower, which means your interest rate will be a bit higher.
If you are unhappy with your current credit score, you will always have the opportunity to improve your credit score by making payments on time to all of your creditors over an extended period. As your score increases, we will be happy to refinance your loan at a new lower rate!

Buying that first home? Need to remodel? Take advantage of our 25 year mortgage! The interest rate is fixed for the first five years. After that it cannot go up more than 2 point every five years.
